The randomized trial conducted by researchers at the University of Colorado found that fat removed in the lower part of the body, be it the buttocks, thighs or elsewhere on the legs, returned to the upper part of the body, namely the arms, chest and back. 32 women participated in the study, all in their 30s. They were of average weight and less than half had a modest amount of fat removed.

The results just show that measurements of their bodies were taken at the six week, six month and year marks, with an increase in the amount of fat on their stomachs specifically. We’re sure that if they had continued to carefully watch what they ate and remained physically active to create a deficit in their calorie consumption, the results would have been more favourable. In addition, the news accounts of the study reported that all the women were still pleased with the results of their liposuction despite the shift in fat stores.
