Facial Liposuction Can Affect Harmony

Have too much fat underneath the chin? A little bulging around the jawline? Chubby cheeks? These days, technology has allowed plastic and cosmetic surgeons to treat pockets of fat in sensitive areas, such as the face, safely and effectively – something that was difficult to do in the past due to the size of the cannula.

In the past, cannulas that were used had a diameter that measured a few centimeters. Because of its size, there were concerns of inserting it into sensitive areas as well as the larger incision required to accommodate its insertion (which would result in a more visible scar).  However, laser assisted liposuction technology, such as Smartlipo, utilizes a smaller cannula (aka microcannula) that measures a mere couple of millimeters.  This allows the physician conducting the procedure to create an incision in the facial area far smaller than was once required. Some areas that were once off limits to liposuction are now able to be targeted as a result.

Facial Harmony

But if you’d like to undergo facial liposuction, keep in mind that minimizing pockets of subcutaneous fat can  profoundly alter facial contours and highlight other features. For example, someone who undergoes liposuction for their  chubby cheeks and pockets of fat resting in the area of the jawline may find that after surgery, their nose and eyes become more prominent. While more noticeable eyes may not be such a problem, a more prominent nose may be, causing the individual to consider rhinoplasty as a corrective measure to reclaim aesthetic harmony.

Therefore you should always consider how facial liposuction will impact your other features. You may not like the results!
