Liposuction is ranked the most popular cosmetic surgical procedure for 2008.

After surveying their members, the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery has found that a total of 112,541 procedures were performed last year. Women comprised 81% of this total.

From 2007 to 2008, there was a tendency for all cosmetic procedures to dramatically increase in popularity. For example, there was a 170% increase for abdominoplasty (tummy tuck) and Botox® experienced a 115% increase over the year. Liposuction increased by 125%.
