Subcutaneous Fat

In the human body, there are two main types of fat: subcutaneous and visceral. Visceral fat is fatty tissue surrounding the internal organs, while subcutaneous fat refers to adipose tissue located directly underneath the skin.
Subcutaneous fat is essential in maintaining body heat and provides shape to the body and facial contour. However, too much can lead to an undesirable contour, resulting in such problems as love handles, saddle bags, and pot bellies.
Liposuction can only remove subcutaneous fat. As a result, the health risks posed by the presence of visceral fat, such as those associated with high cholesterol levels, will still remain following a liposuction procedure. That’s why following a healthy lifestyle is necessary regardless of whether you’ve undergone subcutaneous fat removal or not.
